Buonasera a Tutti,
in seguito alle notizie riportate in questo thread circa le ricerche condotte sulla struttura del Wootz a nanotubi di carbonio e alla Spettroscopia Mossbauer in data 24 marzo 2018 e primo maggio 2018, rispettivamente, allego anche questo articolo del Maggio del 2016 del Dip. di Fisica del Politecnico concernente una ricerca sul pugnale di Tutankhamun in ferro meteoritico.
Al di là dell'aurea di misticismo che pervade l'immaginario collettivo, e di cui ne approfittano taluni artigiani, il ferro meteoritico è molto meno raro di ciò che si vuol far credere e le sue " potenzialità " son dovute al fatto che in realtà per il 95% la matrice è costituita da cobalto e nichel; ecco il motivo per cui non arrugginisce e la sua durezza, come per alcuni Wootz, non è "alta".
Prima dell’età del ferro, un’epoca che va dalla fine del II a tutto il I millennio avanti Cristo, le armi più letali venivano realizzate con metalli meteoritici, provenienti quindi da frammenti caduti dal cielo. Il ferro meteoritico era infatti l’unico tipo di metallo raccoglibile in forma naturale sulla terra, pronto da subito per poter essere lavorato.
